Traffic accident causes fatality

A GILMER AREA woman was killed in a traffic accident south of Gilmer Thursday afternoon (July 31). According to sources, Jackie Stevens was stopped in the southbound lane of Hwy. 155, waiting to turn left into her driveway, when her vehicle was rear-ended by a truck. That sent her into the oncoming lane of traffic, where her vehicle was hit by a northbound 18-wheeler. The accident occurred shortly before 5 p.m. about four miles south of Gilmer.
