Lightning strikes tree

THIS LIVE OAK tree on the S.R. Moughon family lot at the Gilmer City Cemetery was split by lightning from one of the storms that raked the county early this week. It stands in the center of the newest part of the City Cemetery, south of the Old Coffeeville Road. The tree is nearly 50 years old. The split-off part was removed by a city crew Wednesday (Aug. 13).
