Grand Jury issues 25 indictmentsThe Upshur County Grand Jury returned 25 indictments and no-billed one case when it met Tuesday (July 1). Eight of the indictments were sealed. Those named in unsealed indictments, the charges against them, and their bonds included: • Joshua Lee Presley, 48, Big Sandy, aggravated sexual assault of a child, a first-degree felony. The offense is alleged to have occurred on Nov. 23, 2007. He remains jailed in Upshur County in lieu of $100,000 bond. • Spencer Lee Smith, 35, Harleton, harassment by persons in certain correctional facilities, a third-degree felony. Bond was set at $5,000. • Robert Wayne Shaw, 47, Gilmer, driving while intoxicated, subsequent offense, a third-degree felony. Bond was set at $5,000. • David Randel Cook, 51, Gilmer, aggravated assault, threaten with a deadly weapon, a second-degree felony. Bond was set at $25,000. • Michael Joel Black, 30, Gilmer, aggravated assault, threaten with a deadly weapon, a second-degree felony. Bond was set at $25,000. • Michael Joel Black, 30, Gilmer, tampering with or fabricating physical evidence, a third-degree felony. Bond was set at $5,000. • Lanny Don Langford, 54, Diana, tampering with or fabricating physical evidence, a third-degree felony. Bond was set at $5,000. • Christian William Smith, 17, Big Sandy, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a second-degree felony. He remains jailed in Upshur County in lieu of $50,000 bond. • Donnie Charles Evans, 17, Duncanville, burglary of a building, a state jail felony. Bond was set at $5,000. • Chad Marvin Sikes, 17, Gilmer burglary of a building, a state jail felony. Bond was set at $10,000. • James Bracey, 33, Gilmer, burglary of a building, a state jail felony. Bond was set at $35,000. • Michael David Grooms, 21, Gladewater, theft of property between $1,500 and $20,000 in value, a state jail felony. Bond was set at $5,000. • Alex Daniel Richardson, 37, Winnsboro, burglary of habitation (repeat offender), a first-degree felony. Bond was set at $20,000. • Jordan Levi Maberry, 21, Gilmer, escape, a third-degree felony. He remains in the Upshur County Jail under $100,000 bond. • Dalton Rogers, 25, Troup, robbery, a second-degree felony. Bond was set at $20,000. • Zachary David Dickson, 21, Ore City, burglary of a habitation, a second-degree felony. He remains in Upshur County Jail under $25,000 bond. • Clifford Edward Prewitt, 40, Avinger, burglary of a habitation, a second-degree felony. He remains in the Upshur County Jail under $50,000 bond. Sealed indictments included aggravated assault/threaten with a deadly weapon; indecency with a child, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, burglary of a building (two counts), and theft of property between $1,500 and $20,000 in value.
