Eight Gilmer High School students received top awards at the state UIL Solo and Ensemble Competition held last weekend in San Marcos.

Receiving gold medals for their First Division Rating for the flute ensemble, Hook Trio No. 2 were Shelbi Gray, Hailey Oller and Kristi Sosa.

Receiving gold medals for their First Division Rating for the trombone trio, Lift Thine Eyes, were Caleb Tillery, Clint Tevebaugh and Damian Jones.

Receiving a gold medal for his First Division Rating for the solo Africa Hot was drummer Keaton Box.

Receiving a silver medal for her Second Division Rating for her twirling solo was Cindi Huggins.

These students and others earned the opportunity to compete at the state UIL level by receiving First Division Ratings at the regional-level UIL competitions held earlier this year.
