It’s not just young people who may be first-time voters this year.
This election has created enough interest that one Upshur County woman who is 81 voted for the first time in her life.
Maudina Moore voted early Tuesday at the Upshur County Courthouse.
She said she decided to vote “because of all that’s going on” in the country and the world.
She did not say how she voted, but said that “I don’t believe in abortion. I don’t believe in gays. I don’t believe in same-sex marriage.”
Mrs. Moore also said that she has a grandson serving in Iraq, and “he doesn’t believe we should get out until we clean up the mess over there. He believes we should stay there.”
Another elderly voter, although not for the first time, was Violet Moody of Gilmer. She is 102 years old.
