Woman injured in house fireA 60-year-old rural Gilmer woman was seriously injured escaping from a fire which destroyed her home Friday night (June 20), Upshur County Fire Marshal Paul Steelman said. He said the fire, on FM 49 just off its intersection with FM 1795, was reported about 8:30 p.m. Friday. Beverley Ann Hamilton, the occupant of the house, sustained serious burns escaping from the blaze, Steelman said. She was flown by air ambulance to Parkland Hospital in Dallas, where her condition was described as stable Monday. Steelman said that the cause of the fire is undermined at this time. He said he was told that the house had once been a beauty parlor.
